Proven Ways to Build An Audience

Whether you are building an email list from scratch, or want to grow the list you have, here are five proven ways to boost your audience into overdrive.

1. Blogs

authority_blogOne of the best ways to build an audience is to start a blog with entertaining and useful content.   Many businesses start this way.

A blog is your website to collect and organize information…any kind of information as photos, video and text. The blog software of choice is WordPress, which is what the software that this blog was constructed with.

You don’t even need to be a writer to have a successful blog.  You can have a vlog(video blog), or plog(photo blog)…I made the last one up…but you get the drift.  You can also hire writers to produce articles at pennies per word.

Pro Tip:
  • Authority Blogging – Revolutionize your blog into an authority blog. You can build an authority blog by having other popular writers and experts from your niche contribute useful information for your audience.  You can also position yourself as the authority in your blog, on your particular subject.  When inviting others to participate on your blog, you have instant access to a wider audience. For best success, create quality content on your blog that is entertaining and useful for your niche, and genuinely helps the readers.

I also recommend adding audience building features like social sharing buttons and optins forms(explained in #4 below).

The next two ways to build your audience is through social media. Facebook and Youtube have the most visitors of any social platform, and it’s likely that you can reach some if not all of your audience through these channels.

Google owns youtube, so you get access to people searching for keywords  in google when uploading and optimizing a youtube video.   In other words, Google will promote your videos on page #1 search results.

So, put a video together that will educate or entertain your niche, upload to youtube, then optimize and you will find your audience!

Pro tips:

  • Link directly to your website from your youtube videos with Associated links.
  • Make sure you add your keywords to your channel, optimizing where possible.
  • Also, add a subscription watermark to mega boost subscribers on youtube.
  • When someone watches a video it creates an audience in Google, which you can access through the Adwords Platform. Thus, you can send advertisements to people who have watched your videos!

Email is by far the best way to maintain and enrich your audience. But what are the best ways to build an email list?

Well first, you need a form on your website, which is a place for someone to enter their email address. Forms are provided by ESP’s, or Email Service Providers, like Get Response and Aweber.

These ESP’s will provide you with a form to embed into your website, so that people can get enter their email in exchange for your ebook, free consult, or sample.

Pro Tip:

  • A Newsletter is not enough. You need to provide more value to offer in exchange for an email address.  Consider offering a free training in the form of video or pdf.

Once you have your list, you can setup automated follow-up messages to help build your relationship with your audience and also make sales.

5. Retargeting

What happens to the visitors that come to your site and leave without taking an action, like providing an email or an order?

Retargeting offers you, and your visitors a second chance.  Also called remarketing, retargeting has proven to drastically boost conversions for optins and sales.
Your potential audience will have a chance to see you and your offers again, becoming familiar with you and your brand.  With retargeting, you can offer a different product or service each time, and segment your audience based on specific interests.  This helps provide your audience with more relevant information.

Pro Tip:

  • You can segment audiences by page viewed, length of view, video view, length of video view, products purchased, products not purchased, opted in, not opted in and more!
